Republic Day Special Recipes

  • Tri-Color Coconut Ladoo
  • Tiranga Punch
  • Tricolor Idli

Tri-Color Coconut Ladoo

Ingredients:

  • Coconut powder: 3 cups
  • Condensed milk: 1 cup
  • Pinch of orange colour
  • Pinch of green colour
  • Clarified butter: 1 spoon
  • Milk: ½ cup

Method:

  1. Heat a pan and add clarified butter.
  2. Roast coconut powder on low flame for 5 minutes.
  3. Add milk and condensed milk, stirring until thick.
  4. Divide the mixture into three parts and colour them orange, green, and white.
  5. Shape into ladoos, and serve hot or cold.

Tiranga Punch

Ingredients:

  • Khus: 60 ml
  • Water: 90 ml
  • Orange syrup: 60 ml
  • Orange/Pineapple slice: As per taste

Method:

  1. Mix khus and water in a blender and pour into a glass.
  2. Blend orange syrup with water separately.
  3. In a tall glass, layer khus water, crushed ice, and orange syrup.
  4. Garnish with an orange or pineapple slice.

Tricolor Idli

Ingredients:

  • Spinach: 200 gm
  • Carrot: 200 gm
  • Rice: 500 gm
  • Urad dal: 150 gm
  • Oil: 15 ml
  • Salt: To taste

Method:

  1. Make purees of boiled carrots and blanched spinach.
  2. Soak rice and urad dal overnight, grind into a paste, and ferment for 6-8 hours.
  3. Divide batter into three parts, adding carrot puree to one and spinach puree to another.
  4. Grease idli moulds, layer orange, white, and green batters, and steam.
  5. Serve with coconut chutney.

Tricolor Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • White bread slices: 3
  • Yellow butter: 50 gm
  • Mint chutney: 25 gm
  • Paneer slices: 30 gm
  • Salt: To taste
  • Carrot (sliced and pureed): 50 gm
  • Mayonnaise: 30 gm

Method:

  1. Butter bread slices.
  2. Mix mint chutney with paneer and salt for the green layer.
  3. Blend carrot, mayonnaise, and salt for the orange layer.
  4. Spread green mix on one slice, top with another slice, and spread orange mix.
  5. Cover with a third slice, cut into halves, and serve with chutney.
