Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival of joy, devotion, and delicious food! To make your celebrations extra special, Chef Swapnadeep Mukherjee brings you four festive recipes — from traditional kheer to innovative modaks — that will surely delight Lord Ganesha and your family.
1. Saviya Kheer (Vermicelli Kheer)
A classic festive sweet that never goes out of style. Creamy, nutty, and fragrant with cardamom!

Ingredients:
- Vermicelli – 100 gm
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
- Raisins – 4 tbsp
- Sliced Almonds – 4 tbsp
- Full Cream Milk – 2 ½ cups
- Sugar – ½ cup
- Cardamom Powder – ½ tsp
Method:
- Break vermicelli into small pieces.
- Heat ghee in a pan, add vermicelli, raisins & almonds, and roast until light brown.
- Pour in milk, stir well, and bring to boil.
- Add sugar & cardamom, simmer for 1–2 minutes.
- Serve hot or chilled.
2. Sabudana Tikki
Perfect for fasting and festive snacking — crispy outside, soft inside!

Ingredients:
- Sabudana – 250 gm
- Potato (boiled) – 100 gm
- Roasted Peanuts (crushed) – 50 gm
- Ginger (chopped) – 10 gm
- Green Chili (chopped) – 10 gm
- Coriander Leaves – 10 gm
- Cumin Powder – 5 gm
- Salt & Pepper – to taste
- Ghee/Refined Oil – 50 ml
Method:
- Soak sabudana for 30 mins and drain water.
- Mix potato, peanuts, ginger, chili, coriander & spices.
- Shape into small patties.
- Roast on tawa with ghee until golden brown.
- Serve with chutney of your choice.
3. Strawberry Chocolate Modak
A modern twist on the festive favourite — rich, fruity, and chocolaty!

Ingredients:
- Sooji – ¼ cup
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
- Milk Powder – 1 cup
- Strawberry Paste/Syrup – 1 tsp
- Chocolate Paste/Syrup – 2 tbsp
- Chopped Dry Nuts – 2 tbsp
Method:
- Roast sooji in ghee without changing color.
- Add milk powder & cook for 2 mins.
- Mix in strawberry paste & a little milk; cook until dough-like.
- For filling: combine chocolate paste with dry nuts.
- Make balls from strawberry dough, flatten, fill with chocolate mixture, and shape with modak mould.
- Garnish with chocolate syrup & nuts.
4. Anjeer Ki Tikki
A nutritious, sweet-spicy tikki with the richness of figs and potatoes.

Ingredients:
- Figs (soaked) – 50 gm
- Potato (boiled) – 200 gm
- Green Chili – 2–3 (chopped)
- Fresh Coriander – 25 gm
- Garam Masala – 3 gm
- Chaat Masala – 4 gm
- Cumin Powder – 4 gm
- Roasted Chana Powder – 20 gm
- Salt – to taste
- Refined Oil – 100 ml
Method:
- Prepare filling: chop soaked figs, mix with coriander, chilli & salt.
- Mash potatoes, add masalas, coriander, chilli & roasted chana powder. Make small balls.
- Stuff with fig filling, flatten into tikki.
- Shallow fry until golden brown.
- Serve hot with mint or tamarind chutney.
